Getting organized is simple, but it’s not always easy. For your project to achieve its best results, you need a realistic plan and a clear, consistent process. In episode #240 of The Clutter Fairy Weekly, Gayle Goddard, professional organizer and owner of The Clutter Fairy in Houston, Texas, reviews the basic process you can follow to succeed with any decluttering and organizing project.

The Clutter Fairy Weekly is a live webcast and podcast designed to help you clear your clutter and make space in your home and your life for more of what you love. We meet Tuesdays at noon (U.S. Central Time) to answer your decluttering questions and to share organizing tools and techniques, success stories and “ah-hah!” moments, seasonal suggestions, and timeless tips.

We meet using the Zoom video-conferencing app, a free tool that allows the audience to share questions and comments live online or over the phone. Up to 100 people can participate live via the Zoom app. We also live-stream the meetings on our Facebook page and record each event to post on our YouTube channel.

Professional organizer Gayle Goddard, owner of The Clutter Fairy in Houston, Texas, hosts the weekly webcast with support from producer and jack-of-all-trades Ed Gumnick.

If you’ve never used Zoom before, your device will download a small, free app that will enable you to participate. (Zoom is very easy to use, but we suggest clicking the link a few minutes before the meeting starts to download the app and take a look around the interface. The next time you join a meeting, you won’t have to download the app again.)

If you’d like to contribute a comment or question, here are the instructions:
  • To comment by video: Make sure your camera is on. Use the “raise hand” button in the chat area of the Zoom interface to let us know you’d like to speak and that you’re willing to appear on video. We’ll be moderating the event, and if we see your hand raised and your camera on, we’ll introduce you, then turn on your microphone and enable your video.
  • To comment by audio: Make sure your camera (if you’re on a device that has one) is turned off. Use the “raise hand” button to let us know you’d like to speak. We’ll introduce you, then turn on your microphone so you can ask your question or comment.
  • To share a comment by chat: Type your comment into the chat area of the Zoom interface. You may share it with everyone, or direct it only to the host. We’ll announce your comment or question at an appropriate moment.

Note: If you’d like to remain anonymous, please rename yourself as “Anonymous” or a pseudonym when you sign on to Zoom, or let us know via chat before we call on you or announce your comment or question.
