Preparing to Move Out: Decluttering Strategies for Moving…or Staying Put (Meetup)

Online

There’s nothing like the pressure of moving to help you throw away things you don't need! Whether you purge by choice or because you're too exhausted to keep packing, the demands of a move are guaranteed to reduce your pile of possessions. But even if you won't be moving any time soon, you can still use moving strategies to help you let go of excess in your life.

This will be our second “Clutter Conversation” online event. We’ll meet using the Zoom.us video-conferencing app, a free tool that allows us to share a conversation as streaming video and take questions from the audience. Up to 100 people can participate live, and as always, we’ll record the event to post on YouTube. About a week before the event, we’ll send a reminder notice to everyone who has RSVP’d to provide instructions for sharing your questions and comments live by video, audio, or chat.

Hand Me Downs: Inheriting Clutter and Avoiding a Clutter Legacy of Your Own

Online

How do we declutter the special kinds of stuff that come to us from our parents and other relatives, and how can we manage our own collections so that our children, surviving spouses, and other loved ones aren’t burdened with more than they can handle when our time comes?

We’ll meet using the Zoom.us video-conferencing app, a free tool that allows us to share a conversation as streaming video and take questions from the audience.

Clutter Conversation: Garage Sales; Maintenance; Organizing versus Free Time (Meetup)

Online

We’re introducing something new for the April 2018 meetup: our first online event! We’ll meet using the Zoom.us video-conferencing app, a free tool that will allow us to share a conversation as live video and take questions from the audience via chat. Up to 100 people can participate live, and as always, we’ll record the event to post on YouTube.

Our first conversation will address a few topics about which we get lots of questions:

  • Garage sales—Pros, cons, and tips for getting the best results with the least effort.
  • Maintenance routines—You’ve made progress on your organizing project; now how do you maintain the uncluttered space, and how do you keep the momentum?
  • Organizing versus free time—How do we find a balance between the need to organize and the desire to relax and enjoy our lives?

Somebody Else’s Problem: Clutter in Relationships (Meetup)

A Healing Collective 4231 Bellaire Boulevard, Suite T, Houston, TX, United States

In many marriages, roommate situations, or other living arrangements, we find ourselves with a partner who is significantly more or less organized than we are. At best, this kind of imbalance creates tension; at worst, it leads to arguments, hurt feelings, and a heightened sense of overwhelm.

For the February meeting of the Houston Clutter Coaching Meetup Group, we’ll talk about how to navigate the troubled waters of clutter-unbalanced relationships. We’ll suggest strategies for communicating perceptions, needs, standards, and priorities, whether you’re the more- or less-organized partner. We’ll offer tips for negotiating agreements in pursuit of results that you can both live with.
