The Clutter Fairy Weekly #249
Give Stuff Away Through Creative Donation, plus More Short Topics
We’ve talked a lot about the usual donation destinations—charity stores, creative-reuse centers, the curb, etc.—but what about unusual ideas for donation? We want to hear our audience’s favorite suggestions and share a few of our own. In episode #249 of The Clutter Fairy Weekly, Gayle Goddard, professional organizer and owner of The Clutter Fairy in Houston, Texas, discusses unconventional places to take donated items—plus other short topics suggested by our audience.

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Another Way Out
This week’s assignment is to find an alternative way to release an item for donation that you’ve been keeping to give to the “perfect” person or organization:
- Identify an item that’s been hanging around in your space waiting to be given away.
- Reflect on what obstacles have been keeping you from making the gift or donation.
- Consider alternative options such as the ones we discussed in today’s webcast.
- Gift, donate, or discard the item by whatever method will get it done the most quickly and with the least additional thought or effort.
