The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Fun Space Inventory
This week’s assignment is to take a critical look at the materials you keep for hobbies, arts, or crafts. Examine the work space or storage area you dedicate to recreational activities, and ask yourself a few tough questions:
- Are there any items I’m keeping solely because of how much money I spent on them?
- Are there basic materials that I bought when I was starting out that I no longer use because my skills have improved or my tastes have changed?
- Am I keeping any “aspirational clutter” in this area—i.e., items for activities I only thought I might be good at or enjoy?
- Are there supplies I’m keeping even though my physical limitations (impaired vision or hearing, loss of mobility, arthritis, etc.) no longer permit me to use them?
