Weekly Tittle

The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.

Make a Plan

The assignment for the next three weeks is a more ambitious one than we usually give you: Create a project plan for one of your 2025 decluttering or organizing goals:

  • Step 1: Select a project. Choose a specific project with a narrow definition, like “Clear out the linen closet.”
  • Step 2: Plan for supplies. Make a list of supplies you expect to need, such as trash or recycling bags, donation bags or boxes, file folders, labeling tools and materials, etc.
  • Step 3: Consider whether major purchases will be needed to complete the project. Will you buy custom shelving or storage solutions or invest in a major structural overhaul to improve a room’s function?
  • Step 4: Decide what services you’ll require. Will you need to have furniture or trash hauled off? Do you need someone to help you because you have physical limitations? Will your project involve expert installations or renovation?
  • Step 5: Plan the timing for the project. Make a tentative guess about how long the project will take, then go to your calendar and schedule time to work on it.

For complete discussion of the project-planning process to follow for this tittle, we encourage you to watch or listen to this week’s show again starting at the 33:04 mark.
