The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Leader of the Pack
This week’s assignment is to assess the state of readiness of your luggage in anticipation of your next trip:
- Pull out of storage your suitcases, carry-ons, totes, backpacks, or any other containers you expect to use the next time you travel.
- Remove old baggage-claim tags and inspect the pieces to make sure that handles, zippers, straps, and other closures are still in working order.
- Make sure that all items are securely tagged or labeled with your current address and contact information.
- Unpack anything that you left in the luggage after previous trips.
- If your trip is coming up soon, stage your luggage in an out-of-the-way location to start receiving items that you’re ready to pack.
- Review and refresh your travel toiletry kit. Remove any expired medications or personal-care products. Replace or refill travel-size bottles of products.
- If you’re not planning any leisure travel this summer, take time this week to plan a “staycation” for your family or a spa day or in-town self-care retreat for yourself.
