Survey #164 Response from Celina
Please select the statement that best describes your future plans with regard to moving: | I'll be moving overseas in 2 months yay 😀 |
---|---|
Describe any thoughts and feelings that the idea of moving invokes for you, or any positive or negative connotations that moving carries. (This might include memories of past moves, plans for future moves, or your experience with someone else’s move that was significant for you.) | this is the first time I'll be moving overseas and not just from a town to city or from one flat to another within the same city as I've had thus far. So it's something entirely new. I'll also do it in three stages: first my brother will tae something in his station wagon (and the car will be partly transported by a ferry). Then, I'll take my things in a large suitcase and fly. After a couple months, I'll just drive there. I'm scared, excited, stressed about immigration (and the stereotypes that I owe to some of my compatriots), happy (I'm moving out of the city where everything reminds me of my ex), curious and it's truly "mixed feelings" that I'm experiencing 😀 |
Consider the present condition of your home and its contents, and then answer this question: If you had to move from your home in a short timeframe, what would the greatest challenges be? | Well, I've been listening to Gayle discuss moves for literally years, so I knew I had to start early. I began in February and I've already sorted through the majority of my things and I've decided what stays in my home country at my mom's place (but with a termination deadline of one year) and what goes with me and what goes to trash, buy nothign groups, friends or gets sold. I once did this experiment with packing just my dolls into my peugeot 107 and it turned out I really have to set my priorities right. if I've been in the doll hobby for 10 years, then it's important, evidently. A simple notebook, a stained t-shirt, worn out tights are NOT. I will use them up for the next two months, but I promised myself not to carry the "bearable" clothes overseas. Just take only the good stuff. Also, not take things I can easily replace or rebuy for little money. So I guess being reasonable about the worth of the items and the difficulty of replacing some is the struggle. Like... it's not economical to transport some things, but it's not economical to rebuy them at the new place either, so my biggest challenge is to decide if I ultimately like it so much that I'd miss it (be it a doll, a duvet or a favourite frying pan I got as a birthday gift) or I can let it go (a pair of knickers, bed linens, plants, printer, etc.) and just rebuy it on the other side. |
If money, logistics, work, citizenship, travel time, etc., were no obstacle, where would your ideal place to live be? (For example: Ed would like to live in a penthouse in the heart of Rome with a place in the Alban Hills where he’d go on the weekend. He can dream, can’t he?) | I'd stay in my home country (Poland) and I'd live in Gdansk by the seaside. Not to far away from the city centre (15-20 minutes drive) not to far away from the shore, but still in a small, old, multi-room estate. Like a very small villa with thick and tall walls. And a small conservatory to host people for a cup of tea among my plants. 4-5 rooms in total would be totally enough. |
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. | Thank you for preparing the talk about moving <3 |
