Please select the statement that best describes your future plans with regard to moving: | I would probably move closer to family if I was widowed and requiring more help with things. |
Describe any thoughts and feelings that the idea of moving invokes for you, or any positive or negative connotations that moving carries. (This might include memories of past moves, plans for future moves, or your experience with someone else’s move that was significant for you.) | Past moves were usually positive. They were work transfers with new opportunities . The last move seems totally overwhelming and impossible to control. There is so much stuff that is not in order. Things of great value mixed with so much that will be unnecessary. I will need to get rid of most of it. Much of it is my husband's and I don't know what is important or valuable. The physical part sounds impossible. I hate to waste things, but know much will just need to be given away or junked. |
Consider the present condition of your home and its contents, and then answer this question: If you had to move from your home in a short timeframe, what would the greatest challenges be? | The volume of stuff. The difficulty of making so many decisions. The random way things are stored. The physical challenge and mental exhaustion. |
If money, logistics, work, citizenship, travel time, etc., were no obstacle, where would your ideal place to live be? (For example: Ed would like to live in a penthouse in the heart of Rome with a place in the Alban Hills where he’d go on the weekend. He can dream, can’t he?) | I would like to live near my son in a senior community and have my own small home. |
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. | Thanks for this topic. It makes me think. And if I can think ahead of future problems, it makes me feel in more control and have less anxiety. I appreciate you two so much but never say it. I listen only to the podcasts but repeat them and repeat them. You are probably with me while I clean or organize about 6-8 hours a week. Thanks for the kind way you treat people and handle emotional subjects. |
