Who is your favorite organizing authority or inspiration besides The Clutter Fairy? | I don't have any other popular figures. My friend from church is the best organizer helper. She understands as she has been through losses and difficult decluttering.
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. | Motivation. What suggestions are there to gain and maintain motivation?
Future topics | I look at something that does not fit or work and imagine repurposing its use. The multiple plastic drawers inside a plastic organizer can be removed and used as dividers in the bottom of sinks and on shelves. Grouping and containing loose items result in more manageable, less chaotic shelf items. Turn a pretty plant pot over and set a décor piece on it for height and interest on top of kitchen cabinets. Add a bench at the bottom of the guest bed for suitcases and a spot to put on shoes. Some have cabinet space beneath for linens and extra storage. Hobby Lobby and Walmart have tiny plastic zipper bags that can be used for loose buttons, vitamins, any loose item one might want to organize. Dollar Tree has tiny hard plastic containers with soft plastic lids that can be used for small things such as safety pins, medications, cosmetics for trips, etc. Add office drawer organizers in the shallow drawer of the makeup vanity for clips and cosmetic supplies. My favorite is this. I use sturdy chrome rolling shelving racks in the garage for tools and storage items. In lieu of permanent shelves on walls, I organize items in totes and place them on the rolling racks. The totes are labeled with names on clear wide moving tape. Fold one end of the tape as a tab for easy removal or repositioning of label. Racks can be positioned side by side or tucked against the wall and moved at will. Choose the rack size to fit available black zipper covers . When the garage is open no one can see possessions. Clutter is out of sight, and it looks neat and clean. Shelves are adjustable. They limit dust accumulation. Lined up across the large garage door opening, no one can see the project or tools in use inside (privacy). Cards are clipped on the covers to identify contents. Paint on the garage floor eliminates concrete dust and makes cleaning a breeze. It increases the workspace of the house. I use a waist height rolling chrome cart in the house. Makes it easy to move heavy objects from room to room or out the door. Provides a portable work surface, an easy car to house grocery transfer or elevate the carrying of laundry. It's an extra surface for patio or house parties. Multiple uses. |
