Describe an experience in which clutter—yours or someone else’s—had a negative impact on a relationship. The relationship in question may be one of yours or someone else’s that you’ve observed. | My daughter can't have anyone over due to the embarrassment of the state of our house. Clutter lines all the walls and every surface, despite being in neat piles, it is clear something is wrong. The clutter also interferes with her studying at home and is distracting, which means she spends long evenings at the library or at coffee shops. We miss her and want her back in our lives, but clutter is keeping us apart. |
Describe an item that evokes a strong association or memories of a person you love, whether that person is still living or gone. This may be something you still own, something you’ve let go, or just an object of which you have a vivid memory. | Not any one particular thing |
How might reducing your clutter or making your home more organized affect your most important relationships, for better or for worse? If you live alone and/or don’t feel that your stuff affects any of your relationships, you may answer this question instead: How might reducing your clutter or making your home more organized affect your health, happiness, wellbeing, attitude, or mood? | I realized recently that if there was a lot less clutter, there would be room in the house for so many things I'd like to do including exercise equipment and other hobbies. Not having that obstacles to trying new things and bringing new items into my house that are truly useful and would encourage healthy activities, would be wonderful and woudl help with my overall health. |
Choose the option that best describes your feelings about Valentine’s Day: | Other |
Please elaborate, if you wish. | I have always gotten sick on Valentines day. My partner doesn't believe in it, so getting sick seems to be my way of coping with the disappointment. So.... the BS answer is about right. |
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). | Gayle - why not offer a live in intervention for those of us that are really difficult cases? I need someone to watch me al day and point out the ways I allow the clutter to build up again and again. Or... what is a good strategy for someone who is too overwhelmed with work and care giving to really put in the time and effort to get things pared down and organized one and for all? |
