Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). | Can you touch on the emotions you see people experience when they are decluttering? I was surprised this past week when I was going through my deceased father's paper, letters, cards, catalogs that he had kept from his job, and it made me terribly sad. My dad died fifteen years ago. I kept telling myself that some of his things he kept, he kept because it meant something to him, and it was okay for it not to mean anything to me. It's like I went through the mourning process all over again. I've been decluttering for the last eight years and have slowly decluttered most of my house, leaving the sentimental/emotional items until last. I still need to go through my dad's military and educational papers he's left behind but don't want to feel that sad again. |
