Survey #206 Response from Em
What is the “canary in the coal mine” that alerts you that your decluttering and organizing habits are starting to slip? In other words, where does clutter first reappear in your life or your home? | I am first aware of clutter when I am in a hurry to find something or to go somewhere. Otherwise, it is just landscape. |
---|---|
What external factors (conditions, circumstances, situations, etc.) or internal conditions (moods, emotional states, health concerns, etc.) tend to disrupt your productive habits and routines or your motivation to declutter and organize? | If I am depressed, the house goes to pot and clutter churns up every surface. |
What was the last item that you decided to keep “just in case”? | The box that 100 tea bags came in. At least I flattened it. |
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). | When a pet died, did you bury the pet's belongings with the pet, save the pet's belongings to be ready for the next pet, throw away anything used and donate the food, donate everything, or something else? Which way do you think eases the pain of the loss? |
Future topics | We are under the impression that children go through growing pains, but once we are adults, it's clear sailing. However, life is hard, and hands us situations beyond our control. We are forced to change careers; our favorite activities have to be put on hold; our health gets ruined; spouses, family, and friends die; responsibilities change... . We are forced to reinvent ourselves, but, for some of us, the current situation is not a happy or satisfying; not an improvement over the past. Perhaps some of us cling to the hope of building on the past to build a happier future rather than tossing out the past. How can we evaluate what will travel into and enhance the future for us, and what will be useless? |
