Name up to three clutter problem areas in your home. These may be physical spaces, categories of stuff, or collections of items that you usually or chronically find difficult to get clear—or keep clear—of clutter. | “Office”/ spare bedroom, kitchen counters, dining room |
For any of the problem areas you identified in your answer to the previous question, list factors that contribute to your difficulty decluttering in these areas. | Excessive paper all over since desk and drawers are full and hard to access. I need to refile some in ome taxes so the office is overrun with papers and files I never get to. Kitchen counters - I have nasty habit of not putting things away, especially things I use daily or multiple times a day, such as supplements. |
Name up to three clutter “sweet spots” in your home. These may be physical spaces, categories of stuff, or collections of items that you usually find relatively easy to keep decluttered and organized. | Living room, bathroom |
For any of the “sweet spots” you identified in your answer to the previous question, list factors that contribute to your ease in (or even enjoyment of) maintaining these areas. | Regular sorting of things in living room and bathroom keep the spaces manageable |
What’s an item or category of stuff that you feel as if you could never get too much of? | Reading material, although I have gotten rid of the contents of an entire bookshelf and ready to get rid of more. Realizing finally it’s just a drain when public libraries have so much available. |
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). | Do you personally subscribe to the capaule wardrobe concept and what do you think of it? I’m retired but still like lots of clothing options. But maybe I need to cut back further. |
Future topics | The basement workroom - how to tackle the what-if possibility for all those tools and hardware? Closet storage systems worth the money. You did a great segment more than a year ago on other useful items (ie spice racks, etc) but closet-centered would be helpful too. |
