Do you consider yourself a "morning person," a "night owl," or somewhere in between?Neither
What are the trouble spots in your daily routine or your family’s routines? In other words, where do you find your habits and routines breaking down on a regular basis?I am tired in the evenings and have little energy because of how early I have to get up for work—5:50 a.m.—but I have always naturally been a night person if I have the chance to let my body do its thing. My evenings are absolutely shot because my body and mind are exhausted.
What aspects of your home (the size, the layout, the contents, the organization of those contents, other household members, etc.) either contribute to or detract from your ability to cultivate and execute productive and useful routines?Example A is my personal experience. In a small space every square inch has to work harder than in a larger home. Because of the harder use per area, it actually gets dirtier and messier faster than with a larger home. There’s no place to hide anything.
That ratio of use:space makes it imperative that I have good cleaning systems in place. It also significantly limits how much stuff I can own without immediately overwhelming my flat.
I tend to resent gifts because my first thought is about where on earth am I supposed to store that thing. Consumables and experiences FTW.
What daily (or frequent) chore would you like to wave a magic Clutter Fairy wand to remove from your routine?Deep cleaning the oven and fridge.
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode.I would like to know some technology maintenance. I am a Luddite but unfortunately have to use technology for life and work. Any useful way to keep digital files organised? What is sensible to keep as online backups? Any VPNs and / or ad blockers? Privacy controls?
For those in the US and Canada, I think much can be done online but Austria still requires a lot of paper and much advice like “toss your manuals! Everything is available online!” is rather useless, for me, because it simply isn’t, here. (NB, I am ruthless about purging manuals, but I still have to have a binder of them. But if the manual comes in English, I keep that part only, or the German if not. It I can still rip out and throw away the Hungarian, Chinese, and Czech, etc., sections)
