Survey #241—Full Response from Barbara
Pronouns | She/her |
---|---|
How often are you troubled by clutter in the kitchen and/or pantry? | My kitchen is often out of control. |
What sources of clutter or specific issues do you experience in the kitchen or pantry? | Pet food, pet toys, the dog's towels that don't have a home. Mail/computer work in progress on the table. Biggest issue is things that don't have a home. Also I know I overbuy groceries but due to childhood issues am very uncomfortable if the pantry isn't full. |
What organizing solutions or strategies have you tried or used in the kitchen, and how have they worked—or failed to work—for you? | Have tried to move the pet stuff to another room but it is really inconvenient. Have started rotating the dog toys & that has helped, having fewer out at a time. Sister likes to bring a new toy every time she visits (nearly weekly) and my current dog isn't a toy destroyer like my previous dog. At least she has stopped bringing dog treats after I told her the vet was concerned about the dog's weight gain. |
What “one-trick pony” resides in your kitchen or pantry? Why do you keep it? | I already got rid of my toaster last year- that was a no brainer once I thought about this. Current item is my tea kettle. I make hot water in the kettle less than once a week and could just use a saucepan, but I'm still hesitating on this one. It's a really nice Revereware kettle. |
Future topics | Things that don't have a home- how do people decide? Also organizing when you don't have room to organize. Part of my problem is I don't have space to hold things while I clear out other spaces. Maybe I'm making a bigger issue than it is. |
