If you shop in thrift stores, resale shops, charity stores, pawn shops, or other sources of second-hand goods, what kinds of things do you look for? Are there any categories of items that you would ONLY buy used? Any categories of items that you would NEVER buy used? | I like old tableware. Dining utensils are well made with good design and smooth edges where they’re supposed to be smooth. My hands are arthritic, so I like lightweight items. Items that are nostalgic and don’t take up much room are preferred. I don’t shop often—not many regular places that sell used and vintage items are near me. |
If you’ve ever completed a major decluttering project, have you experienced re-cluttering anxiety afterwards? Please describe your experience and how you’ve tried to manage this feeling. | I clean up clutter in my bedroom and believe I won’t let it get bad again in front of my closet. Two weeks later it’s back. Shoes and houseshoes gather there and an occasional husband’s item gets thrown there for some reason. |
How often do you deep-clean your kitchen, going above and beyond whatever daily or several-time-a-week routines you maintain? | Hardly ever |
What routines or habits have been useful to ensure that your kitchen is always clean? | Wash dishes, wipe down counters and appliances, and organize the pantry. Wipe up spills as they happen. |
