If you shop in thrift stores, resale shops, charity stores, pawn shops, or other sources of second-hand goods, what kinds of things do you look for? Are there any categories of items that you would ONLY buy used? Any categories of items that you would NEVER buy used? | A wide variety, but holiday decor, picture frames, storage totes, some dishes, purses, some clothing, rarely a piece of furniture, craft supplies, etc. I would avoid shoes and underwear unless with tag still on. |
If you’ve ever completed a major decluttering project, have you experienced re-cluttering anxiety afterwards? Please describe your experience and how you’ve tried to manage this feeling. | I'm in the group who will find out if I ever finish a major decluttering project. |
How often do you deep-clean your kitchen, going above and beyond whatever daily or several-time-a-week routines you maintain? | Hardly ever |
What routines or habits have been useful to ensure that your kitchen is always clean? | Decades ago it was the index card system used by "The Slob Sisters," but I owned literally 1/10th or less the amount of stuff I now own, so for that to work, I'd need to purge several things first. |
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. | This is an off-topic question, for Gayle: Do you buy most of your tops at one preferred store or multiple stores, and would you share one or two of those stores? You always find such pretty and stylish tops. |
