Survey #246—Full Response from C
Describe ways in which clutter has interfered with your ability to entertain visitors or host guests in your home. | At the moment, what we used to use as a guest room (former child's bedroom) is now our storage room. If we do have overnight guests, they can stay in the paper cluttered study or sleep on sofa (pull-out bed) in the living room. Neither is ideal. |

If you could wave a magic wand to make all your clutter disappear or become beautifully organized in an instant, what kinds of entertaining would you like to do in your theoretical “perfect” space? | Have a nicer place to offer overnight guests. Since pandemic is over, more of our friends are traveling. Would make it easier on all to recover the storage room for more convenience and privacy. |
What would you consider the bare minimum requirements you’d need to achieve to get your space into shape for entertaining? | Living and dining and kitchen are ok. To recover guest room I need to re-think how we are storing our things. Not very efficient right now. Room is full of delayed decisions. |
How has your concept of entertaining evolved over the years? Do the materials, equipment, and supplies you possess—such as special cookware, extra tableware, serving dishes, decorations, party games, etc.—still support the types of event you’d like to host? | I no longer experiment. I prepare what I know works well and can be adjusted for special dietary requirements, AND for the most part can be prepared before dinner guests arrive, or minimum work while they are here. I have a "checklist" of all what has to be done before. Have another list for when we have overnight guests. |
Here’s your chance to ask Gayle and Ed any question you’re curious about. It need not be related to this survey’s topic(s). If we think that your question—and our answer—might be useful or instructive to The Clutter Fairy Weekly audience, we’ll share them in an upcoming episode. | @Gayle, Have you ever just walked out and left a client because of some remark they made, or something you couldn't tolerate? |
