Survey #248—Full Response from Jessie
Pronouns | She/her |
---|---|
What useful decluttering or organizing strategies or methods did you take away from the book? | None that Clutter Fairy has already suggested. |
What parts or aspects of the book did you find difficult to grasp or challenging to apply to your home or situation? | White walls. Happiness through austerity |
When you hear the word “minimalism” used to describe a lifestyle, what do you think of? | It is so extreme. I wonder if this just isn't an OCD expression, like hoarding. |
“The things you own end up owning you.”* To what extent do you agree or disagree with this statement? How is it relevant to your stuff? | The above statement is very black and white. I use many things, like silver and china often, even though those things require more care. I derive joy from making my frequent family gatherings special and lovely. Clutter, disorder, vast amounts of things we have no space for, or never use do indeed impact our lives negatively. But total divestment seems awful too. I wonder if people who have lost everything in a disaster feel liberated. |
