The Weekly Tittle is an exercise designed to focus your attention on a specific space, aspect, or challenge of decluttering and organizing your home. We assign a new tittle in each webcast/podcast, then check on your progress the following week.
Declutter Your Past Self
Look around the house for something that represents a previous version of yourself, and ask these questions:
- Is this item still a part of who I am now?
- Is this still useful to me right now, or does it make me happy?
- Does it still deserve the space that it’s taking up in my home?
- How would I feel about releasing it so that someone else can use and enjoy it?

I’m watching (listening really) to your videos while declutterng & packing to move tomorrow morning. I’m almost done but still have a few pantry & kitchen shelves left. (All the stuff that needs bubble wrapping – my least favorite part but had to wait until now as I needed some of the stuff to eat & drink with). Y’all keep me company which I find soothing in my panicked state. I’m not tooooo panicked this time around because I had moved 6 months ago & did a major decluttering then. Now I’m going to a bigger apartment in Paris but it doesn’t have a kitchen yet (apart from a sink & fridge) so I’ll be living out of boxes until I can install a bunch of Ikea shelves, etc. This is common in France for unfurnished apartments (it’s called an unequipped kitchen) so even though it’s an extra expense, I’ll be able to design the kitchen like I want (but it’s not huge so I can only do so much). Thanks for keeping me company!
We’re happy to sit in while you work! Hope the move was smooth and you’re getting your kitchen together. Happy organizing! Gayle
